Davide Quayola

Davide Quayola uses technology as a lens to explore the dynamic balance between seemingly opposing forces: the real and artificial, the figurative and the abstract, the old and the new. Through his immersive installations, he reimagines canonical imagery with contemporary technology, drawing inspiration from historical aesthetics such as landscape painting, classical sculpture, and iconography. Quayola's diverse practice, all derived from custom computer software, includes audio-visual performance, immersive video installations, sculpture, and works on paper.

His work has been performed and exhibited in renowned institutions worldwide, such as V&A Museum in London, Park Avenue Armory in New York, National Art Centre in Tokyo, UCCA in Beijing, and How Art Museum in Shanghai, among others. In addition to his solo work, Quayola frequently collaborates with musicians and composers such as Vanessa Wagner, Jamie XX, and Plaid, and has worked with orchestras such as the London Contemporary Orchestra and the National Orchestra of Bordeaux. He was awarded the Golden Nica at Ars Electronica in 2013 for his pioneering contributions to the digital arts.
