Time Perception

By repeating dots and the word 'time', the viewers' attention is immediately grasped by a sense of transposition. This, alongside the hand-drawn and collaged elements, mark the artist's hand as the figure morphs into one with the background, blurring the barrier between inner and outer worlds.

The overlap between the inner and outer world, as implied by the way these dots impose themselves on the figure’s head, suggests a tension between the potential of dreams against the harshness of the reality we find ourselves in.

These dots indicate a monotonous, almost ritualistic form of expression, suggesting a sense of constriction due to external pressures. Use of muted, unsaturated colours further emphasise the monotony and bleakness felt by the figure, whose anonymity makes it easy for the viewer to embody.

Time Perception draws attention to the absurdity of daily life and the frustration felt by counting down the moments until we reach something more meaningful. These tensions, although appearing as a kind of friction, reveal themselves as the purpose sought by us all, in which Skygolpe implants the viewer with the same ailments as the figure we observe; a sense of idleness and a yearning for conclusion.
